Meanwhile the only car in the driveway that moves is a $300 Mazda.
The breakdown; My mother’s rav4 started knocking last Thursday. Long story short my brother and I pooled our savings together and bought another(crappy with a good motor) rav4 the very next day. Skip to last night and we got the motor out of the parts car and seperated the tranny.(would’ve been sooner but, work) So next up will be dropping the ruined rav4 motor and putting it all back together.
Aaand the Lexus is just waiting for another diff, which should arrive in the next few days.

My AW11 had the fabled “Toyota Reliability” too. Jumped back to Mazda after that.

My wife’s Solara lost compression in a cylinder at around 40k miles. Sold it for 2 grand and bought a Kia.

my Lexus had a few problems, camshaft position sensor had to be replaced, occasionally got codes for an oxygen sensor, battery light would come on sometimes, and the abs module was shot.

The list of mechanical problems since ive had my SC(2 years). 3 MAF’s, 3 Ecus’s, coilpack, plug wires, fuel pump, abs accumulator, 1 LCA, 2 steering racks, 1 radiator, 2 differentials(not counting welding them to keep them working), 1 subframe, both motor mounts, 1 alternator. I’m sure I’m missing something else

I had my 98 GS300 for just a year, cost me $1700 in repairs and needed another $3000+ to fix everything. It had full maintenance records from a Lexus dealer, although to be fair it had 262k miles when I bought it (266k when I sold it)
